American University Projects

Since 2012, MCE has completed over eight projects at American University working as the prime MEP engineering consultant to the Office of the University Architect. Renovation projects have included an 11,000 SF administrative office as well as several research laboratories, including the following animal and research laboratory:
Project Description:
- 1300 SF of General laboratory, Behavioral/Electrophysiology room, Microscope & Electronics room, Surgery room, and Offices.
HVAC Scope:
- New dedicated outside air unit to provide conditioned air with zoned temperature control.
- New fume hood exhaust duct and fan.
- New humidifier to maintain humidity levels.
- New direct digital control system able to communicate with the campus wide energy management system.
Plumbing scope:
- New domestic cold and hot water risers from the ground floor main domestic water lines.
- New sanitary riser from the ground floor.
- New sanitary riser from the ground floor.
- New compressed air pump and piping.
- New vacuum pump and piping.
Electrical scope:
- New 203/120 volt, 3 phase feeder from the main switchboard.
- New 208/120 volt, 3 phase panel and distribution.
- New lighting layout, wiring and switches.
- New power wiring to equipment, and outlets.
Fire alarm:
- New area smoke detectors.
- New duct smoke detectors in HVAC units.
