Boland Hall is a four story plus a basement building that houses students and faculty members of the Georgetown Prep school. The basement and the first floor contain a full kitchen, dining halls, central laundry facility and administrative offices. The 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors are individual dorm rooms occupied by students and faculty.
MCE provided MPE engineering services to create private apartments for faculty members and their families.
Existing steam and steam condensate return heating system were modified to provide heating. New VRF heat pump systems were designed to provide air conditioning during cooling season and heating early heating season prior to activation of central steam supply system.
Sanitary sewer, sanitary vent, cold water, hot water and circulating hot water piping were modified to connect to new plumbing fixtures.
New feeders were tapped into the existing switchboard and extended to new electrical power distribution panels sized for each apartment. New lighting and outlets were provided for the apartments per National Electric Code.
Existing sprinkler system was modified to provide complete coverage for the renovation areas. New fire alarm devices were provided for proper coverage per NFPA-72.
