The Siena School is a 4-12 grade private school in Silver Spring, Maryland.
MC ENGINEERS provided MPE and fire protection engineering for the first phase of the project in 2012. The phase I work included renovating an existing 20,000 SF sports training facility into an academic classroom facility with a Gymnasium. The phase I work was completed and occupied in 2012.
MC ENGINEERS is currently providing MEP engineering services for a phase II addition. The phase II addition is a three story 9,500 square feet including classrooms and laboratories on the east side of the existing building. The MEP and fire protection systems will be upgraded to support the phase II and phase III addition. The phase II addition will be extended on the south side to form the phase III addition in future.
Variable Refrigerant Volume (VRV) system with dedicated outside air roof top unit will be designed to match the phase I mechanical system. The laboratories will be exhausted to outside.
The existing domestic water service will be upgraded for the phase II and III. New sanitary and vent piping will be provided. Acid resistant waste and vent piping will be provided in the laboratories and after passing through an acid neutralizing tank will be connected to the building sanitary sewer drain and vent piping. The wet laboratories will be provided with emergency eye wash and shower.
The phase I sprinkler system will be extended to provide coverage for the phase II & III.
The existing electrical service will be upgraded to provide sufficient power for the phase II and III of the project. New power distribution, lighting layout, and fire alarm system will be provided.
