Hot aisle / cold aisle approach to cooling high density data centers was utilized to cool the Virginia Hospital computer center with a power density of 235 Watts per square feet. Refrigerant 134A-based chiller and ceiling mounted cooling modules were designed to cool the computer room equipment. Pumped refrigerant is ideal for use around electronic equipment and enhances hot aisle / cold aisle approach to cooling high density data centers. Two downflow computer room air conditioning units were also used to maintain humidity in the computer room.

A refrigerant monitoring and ventilation system was provided per ASHRAE guidelines and local codes, to safeguard against refrigerant leak.

A clean agent suppression system and pre-action sprinkler system were provided per NFPA and local fire protection code.
